Microbiology Analyst Veterinary & GMP

We are seeking a Microbiology Analyst to join our clients laboratory team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing microbiological testing supporting veterinary diagnostics maintaining GMP microbiology standards and contributing to laboratory quality and compliance activities.

Main Responsibilities:

Microbiological Testing & Veterinary Diagnostics

• Perform routine microbiological analysis of veterinary samples including milk feces tissues and swabs for disease diagnosis.
• Conduct Salmonella isolation and identification using selective enrichment culture techniques and biochemical/serological confirmation.
• Carry out mastitis diagnostics including milk culture and pathogen identification (Staphylococcus Streptococcus E. coli) interpretation of Somatic Cell Counts (SCC) and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) using standardized methods.
• Identify and characterize veterinary pathogens relevant to livestock and poultry health.
• Support disease surveillance outbreak investigations and herd/flock health programs.
• Apply rapid diagnostic techniques (e.g. PCR ELISA) where applicable.

GMP Microbiology & Quality Control

• Conduct quality control microbiological testing of veterinary products (vaccines pharmaceuticals feed additives).
• Perform sterility testing microbial limits testing endotoxin testing and bioburden analysis in compliance with pharmacopeial standards (USP EP BP).
• Implement and maintain environmental monitoring programs (air surface personnel) in GMP-regulated areas.
• Ensure strict adherence to GMP GLP and biosafety standards in all laboratory activities.
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation systems (SOPs test records deviations CAPA).
• Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and contamination events performing root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Laboratory Operations & Compliance

• Manage sample receipt tracking and data integrity throughout testing processes (aligned with ALCOA principles).
• Calibrate maintain and qualify laboratory equipment (autoclaves incubators biosafety cabinets).
• Participate in method validation verification and transfer activities.
• Ensure readiness for internal and external audits and support regulatory inspections.
• Train staff on aseptic techniques diagnostic procedures and GMP requirements.
• Maintain biosafety and biosecurity protocols when handling zoonotic and pathogenic organisms.

Collaboration & Reporting

• Interpret and report laboratory findings to veterinarians production teams and clients.
• Collaborate with QA production and veterinary teams to ensure product safety and animal health outcomes.
• Provide technical input and recommendations based on microbiological results.
• Contribute to antimicrobial resistance monitoring and control programs in animal health.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Microbiology Biotechnology Biological Sciences Veterinary Laboratory Sciences or a related field.
• Approximately 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience with microbiological testing and diagnostic procedures will be an added advantage.
