Maintenance Fitter Class 1

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Fitter to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation maintenance and reliability of production machinery while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and minimizing equipment downtime.

• Implementing and completing preventative maintenance schedules and programs for all machinery and equipment.
• Building and maintaining an inventory of critical spare parts to minimise production downtime.
• Attending to mechanical breakdowns and ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
• Supporting production teams in achieving optimum operational efficiencies.
• Identifying recommending and implementing technical improvements where practical and cost-effective.
• Ensuring all machinery is serviced maintained and operating according to required standards.
• Responding to after-hours call-outs when required.
• Ensuring machinery operates reliably during night shift operations.
• Diagnosing and resolving equipment issues during the initial intervention wherever possible.
• Monitoring and reducing the occurrence of repeat breakdowns and comeback jobs.
• Managing and updating job cards to ensure timely completion and closure of maintenance activities.
• Conducting and coordinating maintenance activities on machinery equipment and production systems.
• Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Adhering to health safety and maintenance procedures at all times.

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Sound knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance practices.
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Good planning organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• Class 1 Trade Tested Fitter & Turner qualification (including Machining).
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 4 6 years experience within the plastics manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience working with extrusion injection moulding and stretch blow moulding equipment is essential.
• Practical experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is required.
