Job Summary
The HR Officer (Industrial Relations) is responsible for maintaining positive employee relations ensuring compliance with labour legislation company policies and collective bargaining agreements while promoting a fair and productive working environment. The role focuses on managing disciplinary processes grievance handling dispute resolution employee engagement and supporting overall HR operations.
Manufacturing experience will be a distinct advantage due to the nature of workforce management and industrial relations requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Industrial Relations
- Provide guidance and support to management and employees on labour law matters and company policies.
- Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with labour legislation and company policies.
- Conduct investigations into employee misconduct workplace disputes and policy violations.
- Prepare disciplinary hearing documentation and participate in disciplinary proceedings.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation between employees and management.
- Liaise with workers committees trade unions labour officers and relevant regulatory authorities where required.
- Ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) Labour Act requirements and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all industrial relations matters.
Employee Relations
- Foster positive employee relations and workplace harmony.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and staff welfare programmes.
- Assist in addressing employee concerns and workplace issues promptly and professionally.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide recommendations based on trends identified.
HR Administration
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation.
- Assist with recruitment onboarding and induction processes when required.
- Monitor employee attendance leave records and absenteeism trends.
- Prepare HR reports and management updates.
- Support performance management and training initiatives.
Compliance & Policy Management
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistently applied across the organisation.
- Keep abreast of changes in labour legislation and recommend policy updates where necessary.
- Participate in workplace audits and compliance reviews.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Human Resources Management Industrial Psychology Labour Relations or a related field.
- Professional HR qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years experience in Human Resources with a strong focus on Industrial Relations.
- Sound knowledge of Zimbabwe Labour Laws and Employment Regulations.
- Experience handling disciplinary hearings grievances and labour disputes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Added Advantage
- Previous experience within a manufacturing production engineering or industrial environment.
- Experience engaging with trade unions and workers committees.
