Class 1 Diesel Mechanic (Caterpillar)

Our client is seeking a qualified Class 1 Diesel Engine Mechanic to join their technical team.

Main Responsibilities:

• Diagnose service repair and overhaul Caterpillar diesel engines and related components.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshoot mechanical hydraulic fuel cooling and electrical system faults.
• Conduct engine rebuilds and component replacements as required.
• Carry out inspections and prepare detailed service reports.
• Interpret technical manuals schematics and diagnostic data.
• Use Caterpillar diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve faults.
• Ensure all work is completed safely efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and job documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies health and safety regulations and workshop procedures.
• Assist in planning maintenance schedules to minimise equipment downtime.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards within the workshop and work areas.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior mechanics where required.

Key Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar engines powertrains and hydraulic systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Class 1 Journeyman Diesel Engine Mechanic qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience working on Caterpillar diesel engines.
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy earthmoving mining construction or industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in fault finding using Caterpillar electronic diagnostic systems.
