Review examine investigate and analyze workers compensation claims. Use organizational loss data for identification and prevention of common safety issues and trends. Implementation and administration of safety training and effective prevention measures. Communicate effectively with all parties involved ensuring a successful return-to-work. Coordinate medical treatment and reports for injured employees and provide information to stakeholders as needed. Serve as a liaison between employees medical providers management third party claims handlers and legal professionals. Inform management third party claims handlers and other relevant stakeholders of an injured employees work restrictions and coordinate appropriate accommodations. Communicate with defense attorneys regarding litigated cases; make recommendations regarding proposed strategies for claim resolution. Review and respond to legal documents relating to litigation. Request appropriate information both verbally and written from applicable parties to ensure proper claim disposition. Coordinate employee absences relating to benefit eligibility along with initiating the process triggering protected leaves of absence as appropriate. Administrate and maintain internal systems for data collection and entry root cause analysis and report generation; create and update spreadsheets logs and diary as necessary ensuring accurate standardized and complete record retention. Stay abreast of new trends pending legislation and case law related to workers compensation in all states in which we do business. Utilize critical thinking skills to gather and analyze data information to escalate and discuss critical claim decisions to management. Escalate complex complicated or challenging claims to management to ensure claims are progressing effectively. Identify and discuss root cause and trending with management. Provide exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining productive business relationships with stakeholders.
Two years minimum of recent progressively responsible experience handling workers compensation claims required. Knowledge of relevant Federal State and local laws and regulations governing workers compensation. Proven understanding of medical and technical terminology used in industrial injury claims. Understanding of methods and techniques of data collection maintenance research analysis and record keeping. Experience with self-insured program and monopolistic workers compensation state experience highly desirable. Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand proper application of sharing confidential information. Prior experience negotiating issues and settlements. Strong problem solving negotiation and decision-making skills. Proven ability to be assertive in order to proactively resolve issues. Demonstrates active listening and exhibits empathy during difficult situations. Detail oriented and self-motivated with excellent time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to work independently with minor direction. Experience with human resource payroll and benefit systems desired.
