Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Water & Sewer Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Utilitys water and wastewater systems. This position offers an opportunity to play a key leadership role in a community experiencing growth and infrastructure investment.
Position Overview
The Water & Sewer Manager is responsible for the overall management operation maintenance and long-term planning of Waunakee Utilities water and wastewater systems. The position provides leadership to water and sewer operations staff and is responsible for ensuring that the Utilitys facilities and infrastructure are operated safely efficiently reliably and in compliance with applicable federal state and local requirements. This position will work closely with the General Manager Utility Commission employees engineers developers contractors regulatory agencies and the community.

The successful candidate will combine technical utility knowledge strong leadership abilities problem solving skills and a customer-service mindset.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SCADA systems and GIS technology alongside a solid understanding of Wisconsin DNR regulations.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong communication skills including ability to listen and understand various stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Sound judgement and the ability to diagnose operational issues and implement creative solutions.
- Customer-Service Mindset: Trouble shoots customer issues with a positive demeanor while providing customer with confidence that issue will be solved in an efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in related field is preferred.
- Experience: Five to ten years of related experience with three to five of those years holding a supervisory position.
- Certifications: Must possess a valid Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Distribution Certification or ability to obtain within one year of hiring.
- Drivers License: Valid motor vehicle operators license is required must obtain a commercial drivers license within six months of employment and excellent driving record.
