Role Summary

Linux Vulnerability & Remediation Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise infrastructure and security remediation program. The role combines expertise in Linux platform engineering vulnerability management remediation coordination and advisory automation.

The ideal candidate should possess strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration knowledge with exposure to RHEL 7 to RHEL 9 environments vulnerability identification remediation planning and reusable automation frameworks. While full-scale OS migration execution is currently out of scope candidates must understand migration dependencies RPM/package compatibility and platform modernization considerations.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring close coordination with infrastructure application container security and remediation teams across multiple environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify analyze and coordinate remediation of vulnerabilities across Linux operating systems containers and applications.
  • Work closely with infrastructure application platform engineering and security teams to coordinate remediation activities and track closure.
  • Provide technical recommendations for remediation strategies reusable remediation assets and automation opportunities.
  • Possess strong understanding of RHEL 7 to RHEL 9 environments package dependencies compatibility considerations and platform vulnerabilities.
  • Support packaging automation and deployment activities related to RHEL 7 to RHEL 9 upgrade and remediation releases across environments.
  • Review vulnerability reports generated from enterprise scanning tools and perform risk-based analysis.
  • Recommend reusable automation frameworks and AI-driven remediation solutions aligned with Agile delivery practices.
  • Support RPM package building validation and dependency analysis activities.
  • Collaborate with CI/CD DevOps and platform teams to improve remediation workflows and deployment automation.
  • Participate in remediation governance tracking reporting and stakeholder coordination activities.
  • Ensure remediation activities follow enterprise change management CAB and production governance processes.

Required Skills & Experience

Linux & Operating System Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Good understanding of RHEL 7 and RHEL 9 platform architecture and ecosystem.
  • Experience in Linux troubleshooting performance tuning and operational support.
  • Understanding of RPM package management and RPM build processes.

Vulnerability Management

  • Experience identifying and assessing vulnerabilities across:
    • Linux Operating Systems
    • Containers
    • Applications
    • Middleware
  • Strong understanding of remediation coordination and risk prioritization.
  • Exposure to CI/CD and automation tools such as:
    • Jenkins
    • Ansible
    • GitHub Actions
  • Exposure to container platforms and technologies:
    • Docker
    • Podman
    • Kubernetes
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work independently in fast-paced enterprise environments.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple remediation and coordination activities simultaneously.
  • Experience
    • 7 years of experience in Linux infrastructure vulnerability management platform engineering or remediation programs.
    • Experience supporting enterprise production environments is preferred.
