About the Opportunity

The School of Architecture in the College of Arts Media and Design invites applications and nominations for a fulltime or 2/3 full-time Visiting Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor positions to expand our vibrant teaching and research initiatives for our undergraduate and graduate Architecture and Landscape Architecture programs. We seek candidates who will lead classes in the areas of design research history professional practice and/or analysis of the built environment. This is a non-tenure track appointment.

This position will entail teaching two or three courses per fall and spring semesters (4-6 courses per academic year) on subjects relevant to their specific expertise areas such as architectural or landscape history building technology and science architecture urban and landscape design and/or professional practice. Such topics might draw from the candidates professional and academic experiences and/or creative practice and research as well as their local (Boston and Northeast USA) and/or global experiences. Class formats may range between design studios workshop courses seminars and/or lectures. Rank as an Assistant or Associate teaching professor will be assessed in consideration of the candidates previous teaching experience and creative practice and/or research addition to teaching all full-time and 2/3 full-time faculty are expected to contribute to the cultural life and function of the School of Architecture through service commitments on committees special projects and student advising and engagement activities. These service roles are determined based on alignments with candidates past experiences and profiles in teaching research and creative practice.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a terminal degree in the anticipated focus areas of teaching (typically PhDs for Architectural and Landscape Architecture historians and Masters degrees for design professional practice and building technology faculty). Candidates are normally expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates with a well-developed research agenda that will inform and advance current trends in the field through creative production experimentation collaboration exhibition and publication will be given preference for the position.

Pay Range:

Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor: $62000.00 - $80000.00 Visiting Associate Teacher Professor: $69000.00 - $90000.00 Ranges are for 1.0 FTE; ranges would be prorated for 2/3 FTE.

With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
