Job Summary

What You Can Expect

As a Utility Plant Operator I you will play a key role in ensuring safe reliable and efficient operation of campus utility systems. Under the guidance of senior operators you will monitor operate and support all ENGIE-operated utility plants and associated systems on campus. Youll work with a wide range of equipment including boilers turbines chillers emergency generators air compressors pumps motors and water treatment systems. This role involves hands-on operations troubleshooting routine maintenance and maintaining accurate logs and records all while upholding strict safety and environmental standards.

This position follows a 12-hour fixed shift schedule. Operators are assigned to either dayshift (6:00 AM 6:00 PM) or night shift (6:00 PM 6:00 AM) and remain on that shift. No swing shifts.

This position follows a 2-2-3 schedule:

Week 1 Work 2 days off 2 days work 3 days

Week 2 Off 2 days work 2 days off 3 days

This cycle repeats every two weeks and includes every other weekend off as a three-day weekend. Availability for occasional emergency call-ins is required.

This position also includes training to obtain the State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineers License within 1218 months. Upon successful completion employees are eligible for promotion to Utility Plant Operator II along with a pay increase to $38.80/hour.

You will:

  • Monitor plant systems take readings and adjust operations to maintain performance and efficiency
  • Respond to alarms and changing system conditions
  • Perform equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting
  • Execute equipment startup shutdown and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Operate boilers turbines chillers generators and associated utility systems
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of plant equipment and work areas
  • Communicate effectively with incoming shifts to ensure continuity of operations

  • This role requires attendance at a worksiteon a daily basis
  • Must possess a valid U.S. drivers license/will drive a company vehicle
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consists of 10% of outdoor work while performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to support safe and efficient operations

Compensation

Hourly: $24.38 $37.32 USD

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal state and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography experience education internal pay alignment or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
