ABOUT THE ROLE

Job Purpose: As a Chassis Working Lead you will lead a Chassis Team in a hands-on role to produce products in compliance with quality safety and productivity requirements. You will work with a team of professionals to ensure chassis assembly and upfitting work including installing PTOs pumps hydraulic lines wiring and in-cab electrical components in accordance with specifications and safety standards. Your attention to detail ability to work with precision tools and equipment and ability to manage day-to-day planning operations and problem-solving will be essential to the teams success of building correctly on time and ready for assembly. You will be expected to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Essential Functions

  1. All essential functions for either a Mechanical Assembler III Electrical Assembler III or Electro-Mechanical Assembler II.
  2. Carries out supervisory responsibilities including training and development; planning assigning and directing work; approving weekly timecards; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and coaching and counseling.
  3. Manage consumable usage in the assembly department and stay within the established budget.
  4. Oversees safety regulations by complying with procedures rules and regulations; secures tools materials and equipment at the end of the day.
  5. Lead daytoday chassis preparation activities on the floor.
  6. Perform handson mechanical and electrical prep work as needed
  7. Receive and inspect incoming chassis for damage accuracy and completeness
  8. Ensure work follows standard work drawings and work instructions
  9. Coordinate task sequencing to support production flow and assembly schedule
  10. Train and support team members on chassis processes
  11. Communicate issues related to quality material or engineering
  12. Manage projects and timelines based on production schedules.
  13. Lead and direct the work of others as required to complete the chassis.
  14. Contributes to team effort by actively participating in department meetings.
  15. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops reviewing professional publications establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  16. General maintenance on equipment and the assigned area in the department as well as organizing and cleaning the shop.

Skills & Qualifications

  1. A minimum offive years of mechanical/electrical repair combined with leadership experience in a formal or informal capacity. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to co-workers management vendors suppliers and customers.
  3. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers management suppliers and customers.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office CSI systems and workplace technology tools
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as job orders procedure manuals and schematics (blueprints).
  7. Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
  9. Strong attention to detail organizational skills and the ability to create documented processes and procedures.
  10. Skill in the fabrication joining and repair of a variety of metal objects equipment fixtures and structures.
  11. Ability to use department equipment such as forklift ladder/scaffold overhead crane power tools and copy machine.

  1. While performing the duties of this job the employee is constantly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand bend kneel climb stairs and walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. If lifting over 50 pounds employees should utilize a jib overhead crane or ask for assistance from other team members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  2. The work environment is usually an indoor setting with frequent exposure to outside elements. The noise level in the work environment is frequently addition other elements that an employee could be exposed to frequently in this work environment are but not limited to dust dirt fumes and odors mechanical and electrical hazards fire hazards and an elevated workplace. This position requires infrequent travel which may involve exposure to extreme weather elements.

Monday - Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM overtime can be scheduled before or after regular shift hours with occassional Saturday work.
