TEACHER LEADER
Eagle Valley Elementary School

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Every Teacher a Leader aligns with the district strategic goal of empowering educators by creating an environment where teachers are driving instructional decisions at the building and classroom levels based on their collaborative work in professional learning communities and other venues. These individuals work directly with students and are also encouraged to seek out professional development opportunities in their own areas of identified growth. Additional strategies employed by teachers to guide instructional decisions might include:
- Professional Learning
- Collaborative Inquiry
- Data teams
- Lesson study
- Peer coaching
- MTSS
- School-based instructional rounds
Embedded within the goal of empowering educators the Every Teacher a Leader component is designed to build capacity among all ECS teachers by providing opportunities for demonstrating leadership. Leadership options that are in addition to the more formalized teacher leadership roles but are outside of existing professional responsibilities may include:
- Mentors for teacher candidates
- PLC facilitators
- Department heads
- Grade or content leads
- District committee work
- Curriculum design teams
- Association leadership
- Community outreach
- Mentoring new teachers
- Taking on larger/extra classes to provide opportunities for others in their buildings
