Position Summary
We are seeking a Tax Manager to oversee tax engagements support client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of our New Jersey practice. This role is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys managing client work mentoring staff and developing as a leader within a growing organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with firm leadership while helping deliver high-quality tax and advisory services to closely held businesses partnerships and individual clients.

Work Environment: This role is based full-time in our Ramsey New Jersey office and involves close in-person collaboration with our team and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review business partnership corporate and individual tax engagements ensuring accuracy compliance and timely delivery.
- Prepare and review tax returns projections and related workpapers.
- Assist with tax planning and advisory services for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness professionalism and technical expertise.
- Supervise mentor and develop senior accountants and staff accountants.
- Coordinate workflow manage deadlines and oversee engagement budgeting and scheduling.
- Research and resolve federal and state tax issues including multi-state matters where applicable.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to improve processes workflow efficiency and client service delivery.
- Support implementation of technology and best practices across engagements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across AFG s growing national network.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license preferred (or actively pursuing licensure).
- 4 to 6 years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong focus on taxation.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax compliance.
- Experience reviewing returns and supervising staff.
- Excellent communication organizational and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Experience with tax and accounting software platforms commonly used in public accounting.
- Positive team-oriented attitude with a desire for long-term professional growth.
