POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides testing equipment setup equipment operations and equipment maintenance and documentation of completed activities in target maintenance database. Works in accordance with general objectives with a focus on safety quality and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows documented test procedures to complete annual or other required testing of target and miles inventory and records tests results / maintenance activities in the target system database.
Interface with customers to develop scenario hardware configurations which will achieve training objectives.
Program equipment to different simulations in outdoor environments and the mechanical support testing/operation of special equipment in field support activities. Support consists of technical bench and field set-up / deployment / retrieval and repairs with travel to remote site areas as required.
Supports activities identified by Management to maintain equipment in a reliable efficient manner.
Provide setup operation and recovery of miles and target equipment at training sites.
Use equipment techniques and tools needed for task completion.
Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established ES&H requirements to ensure the protection of employees the public and the environment.
Assist logistics employees with setup and tear down of training sites.
Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.
Receives stores and issues MILES and Target equipment and maintains accountability of assigned equipment.
Maintain accurate inventory of equipment repair parts and TMDE (Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment).
May perform other duties as required by proper authority.
Operate assigned OST government vehicles pursuant to Federal and State Department of Transportation regulations.
Serve customers (external and internal) by focusing on quality as it relates to the customer; anticipating/understanding customer needs and expectations; responding expeditiously to customers questions request and concerns; and satisfying reasonable customer needs and expectations.
Contribute to team effort by focusing on OST mission goals and objectives. Accomplishing tasks and assignments in a professional and timely manner; keeping appropriate staff and management informed regarding the status of tasks and assignments; establishing and maintaining professional working relationships; working amicably cooperatively and productively with team members; assisting others as needed and accomplishing other duties/tasks as assigned/directed or as necessity dictates.
When approved by the Program Manager provide support to offsite and local training activities to include supporting roadblocks and serving as an exercise role-player.
Work is performed in an office warehouse or classroom setting or outdoors on a range or in support of a training exercise. Workers may be exposed to dust fumes loud noises and the environment.
Work involves much standing or walking. Some kneeling or bending involved. When in the office work is sedentary which
requires sitting most of the time. Work will involve moderate lifting carrying pushing or pulling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to complete formal training such as Navy Electrical and Electronics Training (NEETS) Course or other approved training in Electronics Theory.
Ability to demonstrate and apply basic troubleshooting knowledge.
Hold an FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License.
Within this classification some duties may require unique electrical mechanical and/or electronic skills and abilities.
Ability to obtain a Class A CDL or currently possess a valid Class A CDL.

Be self-directed and motivated.

Ability to lift 68 pounds.
Maintain certification to operate powered industrial vehicles as required.
Ability to travel for training and other OST business.
Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate DOE security clearance.
