SALARY RANGE: BASED ON EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Surgical Technology Program Director
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/9 month position/PSRS
Position Summary
The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for the instruction management and clinical coordination of assigned surgical technology courses. Coordinator must demonstrate effective teaching methods and remain competent within subject matter as documented by appropriate professional credentials or certifications. Other major responsibilities include participating in department and college-wide committees and assignments. This position is responsible for 12-15 credit hours of instruction per semester. The Instructor is allowed to teach two classes for overload per semester. More than two classes for overload is rare and requires approval of Dean and Provost.
Essential Job Duties
- Maintain currency of knowledge andcompetencyinfieldof specialization and areas of instruction.
- Maintain professionalism andvocational certificationsas required by position.
- Assistin student outreach and recruitment for collegeHealth Sciencesdivisionand program.
- Providequality instruction which isreflective of current discipline standards and isaccurate relevant and engaging usingcollege approved curriculumand resources.
- Developa course syllabus for each class taught usingthe approved course abstract and syllabus template.
- Incorporate pedagogical strategies such as active learning authentic and problem-based activities and other successful teaching strategies into classroom instruction.
- Foster a positive classroom learning environment by presenting information in a way that is inclusive to all learners including the assurance of section 508 accessibility.
- Present course content in an unbiased and civil manner whiledemonstratingrespect helpfulness and responsiveness toward includes holding office hoursin accordance withcollege policyin a way that is convenienttostudents in both format and modality.
- Participate inrequirednumber of hours of professional development each year toincreaseknowledge andfosterteaching improvement.
- Demonstrate reflective practice including assessment of student learning. This includes ongoing formative assessments as well as official departmental assessment.
- Activelyparticipatein department and division meetings events and initiatives
- Mentorpart timeinstructors in their academic department or program area as needed.
- Assistin textbook and course materialselection.
- Participatein curriculum development and work withadvisory committees asneeded.
- Provideaccurateandappropriate academicadvising.
- Exhibitexemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply withcollege policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned includingparticipating in commencementattending college functions serving oncommitteesand attending community events.
- Serve as a role model for students in the clinical setting bydemonstratingprofessional behavior and excellence in patient care.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Associates degree orBachelorsdegreein Surgical Technologyfrom a regionally accredited institution of higher learningwith a Surgical Technology education program accredited by a nationally recognized program accreditation agency.
- Hold a current credential/certificationin surgical technologythat is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
- Threeyears ofexperienceas asurgical technologistin a scrub role instructor role orcombination ofboth within the past 5 years.
- Demonstrate current knowledge in course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects.
- Ability to work well with others
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Prior teaching experience or clinical instruction experience.
- Experience in a leadership role in a professional organization.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Environment:Work is performed primarily in aclassroomlaband office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computermonitoror standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; mayencounteroccasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift carry push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; moving surgical technology lab equipment beds and manikins; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
