Substitute Library Media Specialist

BASIC FUNCTION:The job of Library Media Specialist was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for performing clerical functions related to collection processing circulation maintenance and inventory of library materials and/or textbooks documenting losses and monitoring procedures; implementing age appropriate programs for students utilizing library resources; selecting appropriate items in support of classroom instruction; and instructing students on the proper use of the library DUTIES:Assists teachers students and administrators for the purpose of identifying resource materials for use in classroom and/or class classes and/or activities in a variety of formats (e.g. schedule library sessions show videos make presentations on books/authors etc.) for the purpose of promoting the use and enjoyment of books and/or periodicals for retention within collection (e.g. repairing damaged booksrecommending retirement of books and/or periodicals etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of books and library materials inventory (e.g. textbook library books library hardware/software media equipment and related instructional materials etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and ensuring the availability of materials when various activities involving fines of library and textbooks (e.g. overdue book notices to students and teachers collecting monies for fines maintaining reports clearing students of finesetc.) for the purpose of making sure that fines are paid and within the library budget the purchase and maintenance of books and materials for the purpose of maintaining an updated and effective library in circulation activities (e.g. check materials in and out
