The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for performing structural analysis design inspections restoration engineering and construction administration for a variety of building projects. This role independently manages projects while supporting clients contractors and project teams throughout all phases of project delivery.
The ideal candidate is experienced in existing building evaluations restoration projects milestone inspections and structural design with the ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Technical Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code (FBC) ASCE ACI and AISC standards
Experience using structural analysis and design software including RISA RAM ETABS SAFE ADAPT and Revit
Familiarity with MasterFormat specification writing
Strong technical writing communication and reporting skills
Experience preparing structural calculations and construction documents
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for new and existing building projects
Conduct structural assessments condition surveys and building evaluations
Participate in Phase 1 and Phase 2 Milestone Inspections
Prepare engineering calculations drawings specifications and technical reports
Develop structural repair and restoration recommendations
Support building restoration and rehabilitation projects
Perform construction administration activities including:
Shop drawing reviews
Submittal reviews
Requests for Information (RFIs)
Site observations and reporting
Contractor coordination
Conduct forensic investigations related to structural failures water intrusion and construction defects
Coordinate with clients contractors architects and consultants
Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and schedule commitments
Mentor junior engineers and engineering interns as needed
Leadership Expectations
Demonstrate sound engineering judgment and technical excellence
Maintain high standards of quality and professionalism
Support project teams through collaboration and knowledge sharing
Assist with staff development and technical mentoring
Take ownership of project execution and client satisfaction
Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters preferred)
Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
7 years of structural engineering experience focused on building structures
24 years of building restoration and/or forensic engineering experience
Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 Milestone Inspections preferred
Experience working on existing building rehabilitation and repair projects
Required Skills:
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following: Bachelors degree in Civil Structural or Architectural Engineering Professional degree in Architecture Registered Building Inspector or General Contractor license 4 years of threshold inspection training under a Special Inspector Preferred Qualifications Bachelors in Civil Engineering EIT BN CGC PE or RA license Experience in concrete restoration Knowledge of Florida Building Code (FBC) ASCE AISC and ACI Key Responsibilities Perform special inspections on restoration and new construction projects Inspect swing stages and scaffolding (training provided if needed) Assist with construction administration (shop drawings submittals RFIs field observations) Participate in project meetings with clients and internal teams Manage multiple projects and ensure timely execution Ideal candidates are organized technically strong and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
