A Brief Overview

Provides programs to assist athletes in developing increasing athletic ability to safely perform the selected sport. The trainer plans organizes and implements educational programs for coaches athletes and community members. The trainer also coordinates and implements outreach programs for area high schools for athlete development and strengthening. The trainer works with local sports teams and coaches to develop athletes. Planning and implementing summer athletic programs for regional high schools is also a requirement.

What you will do

  • Responsible for the development administration implementation scheduling and supervision of the Avera sports strength and conditioning programs in the region.
  • Develops and administers a program to direct the athlete toward increasing abilities and strength for the selected sport. Provides support encouragement and inspiration to the athlete for continual performance enhancement to achieve/exceed goals. Maximizing and emphasizing the proper and safe methods for the athlete to follow.
  • Plans organizes and implements educational programs for coaches athletes and community members. Seeks opportunities toe xpand educational opportunities.
  • Carries out the program details as agreed upon with the educational entity coaching staff. Collaborates with various departments and/or individuals as needed to assure areas of important are adequately addressed as a part of the program.
  • Coordinates and implements outreach programs with area high schools for athlete development and strengthening. Works with area high school coaches to develop strength programs for various sports. Develops and maintains athletic summer programming/camps for region.
  • Builds and maintains Avera Athletic Acceleration Program for the region.
  • Collaborates with others as to the status of the athlete(s) and program development. Initiates encourages and supports interactive communication with all parties on the pertinent information actions and/or future requirements.
  • Works and collaborates with other members of the Avera sports team to integrate post-surgical needs for athletes.

Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • Bachelors in athletic performance related field
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach - National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) within 180 Days and
  • USAW Level 1 Coaching Certification - USA Weightlifting (USAW) within 180 Days or
  • USAW Level 2 Coaching Certification - USA Weightlifting (USAW) within 180 Days
