Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Resident Engineer to join our Resilience Water construction management team in Chicago IL. This is a part-time as needed (PTAN) on-site role focused on a variety of construction types with an immediate focus on lead service line inventory and replacement in South Suburban Cook County. The Staff Resident Engineer will become a member of our talented team of construction management professionals that focus on delivering exceptional project outcomes with outstanding client service.

Role accountabilities:

In this role you will have the opportunity to manage exciting and challenging water wastewater and related infrastructure projects from the pre-bid through completed construction phases. You will be expected to work closely with clients engineers contractors and residents demonstrating a strong understanding of the process and be able to manage day-to-day construction oversight and resident engineer inspection this position you will serve as the primary liaison between the contractor and design staff to address RFIs and review shop drawings. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical reviews of construction plans specifications and project changes to ensure constructability and practicality.
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping process contractor payments draft and negotiate field change orders and compile required reports and deliverables.
  • Managing staff safety regulatory compliance permit adherence and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Interfacing with residents including completing service line inspections inside the home and distributing written notification of pipe material.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of inspection reports that meet client requirements while monitoring contractor performance schedule compliance and responsiveness.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Engineering or similar
  • 4 years of experience in construction management/construction inspection on civil works projects (earthwork dams roads utilities infrastructure paving pumping stations water and wastewater treatment plants etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE or CCM Certification.
  • Familiarity with lead service line inventory/replacement and buried water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience using MS SharePoint MS Office Suite (Word Excel and PowerPoint) AutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC) ESRI Field Maps App and PDF editing tools (Bluebeam Revu).
  • Ability to interact effectively with the Construction Contractor management personnel and crew; this includes utilities state local and federal agencies.
  • Demonstrate independent and effective problem-solving/decision-making.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
