We are searching for the best talent for Staff Metrology Engineer.
The Staff Metrology Engineer will be a critical member of the Supply Chain Quality organization supporting network transformation. This individual will support critical Quality deliverables including the definition and implementation of inspection strategies and equipment.
You will be responsible for:
Interpreting drawings that feature Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 to identify product inspection requirements.
Identifying product inspection requirements.
Serving as the technical expert for metrology inspection.
Facilitating encouraging and coordinating continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection activities.
Coordinating data collection parameters for inspection measurements where required.
Providing guidance on the installation of inspection assets to ensure compliance with procedures.
Developing inspection strategies to meet business needs.
Developing standard inspection platforms where applicable including vision systems and contact/non-contact inspection systems.
Developing methods for gauge evaluation including calibration frequencies gauge life fitness for purpose and related considerations.
Leading the development of inspection fixturing to ensure minimal measurement error during inspection.
Participating in cross-functional reviews to ensure conformance to specifications and that inspectability reliability and quality system objectives are achieved.
Assisting engineers with the qualification and validation of new or modified tooling and parts.
Working from written or verbal instructions detailed engineering drawings and 3D models.
Writing work instructions for the qualification of inspection techniques related to standard platforms.
Providing input into validation approaches for all inspection platforms.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelors degree University degree or equivalent in Engineering Physics Mathematics or another related scientific field is required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a Metrology Inspection Measurement Systems or Quality Engineering role is required.
Experience in the selection and procurement of inspection equipment.
Proficiency in writing and editing CMM programs (PC-DMIS COSMO and CALYPSO).
Proficiency in the setup and operation of inspection equipment.
Proficiency in metrology methods and technologies.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
Proficiency in mathematical applications including Algebra Geometry and Trigonometry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and tools used to determine product acceptance.
Ability to investigate and learn new metrology technologies.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 3 years of CMM programming experience using PC-DMIS COSMOS and/or CALYPSO.
Experience with laser scanning techniques and other inspection technologies.
Knowledge of 21 CFR 820 21 CFR Part 11 and European regulations associated with the medical device industry.
Working knowledge of GMP and Quality Systems (FDA/ISO) within a regulated environment.
Familiarity with statistical analysis software.
Other
This position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.
