Sr GCP Data Lead Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior GCP Data Lead Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery and advanced SQL. The role requires hands-on experience in data pipeline development data warehousing and performance optimization along with the ability to lead technical efforts and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & GCP Development

• Design build and maintain GCP data pipelines (Dataflow Dataform)
• Work extensively with BigQuery for analytics and data processing
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries stored procedures and functions
• Handle structured and unstructured data processing

Data Warehouse & Performance Optimization

• Implement and maintain enterprise data warehouse (EDW) solutions
• Analyze and optimize simple to complex SQL queries for performance improvement
• Ensure data consistency scalability and reliability

Troubleshooting & Support

• Diagnose and resolve complex data and pipeline issues
• Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions
• Respond to technical queries from stakeholders and team members

Development & DevOps Practices

• Follow SDLC and Agile (SAFe) methodologies
• Work with version control tools (Bitbucket or similar)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an onsite environment

Leadership & Stakeholder Interaction

• Act as a technical lead and independent contributor
• Mentor and guide junior engineers
• Work directly with clients and business stakeholders

Must-Have Skills

Cloud & Data Engineering

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• BigQuery
• Dataflow / Dataform
• Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)

Programming & Querying

• Strong expertise in:
  • SQL / Analytical SQL
  • PL/SQL (or any RDBMS)
  • Python scripting
  • Unix scripting

Platform & Tools

• Experience with:
  • Kubernetes / Docker
  • Version control (Bitbucket or similar)

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Netezza
• Exposure to cloud migration projects
• Knowledge of data modernization initiatives

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as a lead
• Excellent communication with clients and stakeholders
