Noto provides modern AI native vertical software for after school businesses like tutoring centers music schools and art schools. Their powerful feature set greatly reduces the administrative complexity for traditional manual tasks such as registration rescheduling and payments allowing these owners to focus on what they do best: teaching.

Noto is fresh off a $4M seed round backed by top tier VCs like Base10 and South Park Commons. Noto is founded by two technical founders AJ Ding and Steve Wang and is based out of NYC (AJ) and SF (Steve).

About the team

AJ Ding is the CEO of Noto. Hes a second-time founder and previously built an AI recruiting company. He was a machine learning engineer and data scientist at Quora Lyft & Meta. He studied Statistics at Yale and most importantly he comes from a family of small business owners.

Steve is the CTO of Noto. He was previously the Head of Engineering at Nitra an a16z backed vertical SaaS startup that built back office automation for doctors. Hes worked in data science and engineering at Lyft. He studied math at Harvard and his family is from Canada.

About the role

We want to expand our in-person founding engineering team in SF. We are looking for one Founding Engineer and one Senior Founding Engineer. Both should be full-stack (although its okay if the Senior candidate is stronger on the backend). Were looking for engineers who truly understand what its like to work at a startup.

• 3 - 6 years of experience in a software engineering role. The Founding Engineer should have 3 and we expect the Senior Founding Engineer to have 5

• Experience at early-stage growth startup (seed series A series B)

• Started at big tech then moved to a startup

• Able to take undefined product thinking & independently scope execute large features optimizing for speed with attention to scale.

• Based in the Bay Area excited to work grow our in-person eng team in SF.

• CS degree from a top/ competitive undergraduate program

• Familiarity with the tech stack:

  • React PostgreSQL Drizzle LLMs tRPC in a monorepo Vercel deployments

Wed love to see

• Strong signs of empathy for everyday people (e.g. volunteering teaching community involvement)

• Early experience at the workflow management tool companies (e.g early linear early asana)

• Impact-oriented: You care about small business owners and want to use software & AI to help them thrive

• Work hard. The founders work 70-80 hour weeks and while we dont expect everyone to match this startup life isnt a 9-to-5 job. Some late nights and occasional weekends will be expected.
