Sr. Builder Mobile (Platform), Ring

As a Senior Builder on the App Platform team you wont just write code youll set the technical direction for one of the most widely-used connected device applications in the world. Native mobile is the foundation our customers rely on and we need engineers with deep iOS or Android expertise ideally both or equivalent depth in a cross-platform framework like React Native to architect what comes next.

This is a role for someone who sees AI not as a buzzword but as a fundamental shift in how software is built tested shipped and maintained. Youll champion an AI-powered software development lifecycle across the mobile organization influencing how hundreds of engineers build applications. Your mastery of modern mobile development Swift Kotlin React Native the latest platform APIs modern architectural patterns and the tooling that surrounds them will be instrumental in charting Rings path toward faster iteration cycles without sacrificing the quality and performance our customers expect at scale.

The App Platform team sets the overall technical direction for mobile development across Ring and Blink. Youll be a key member of this team making decisions that ripple across our entire mobile engineering organization.

Key job responsibilities
You will:

- Define and drive the technical strategy for Rings mobile architecture balancing development velocity with the performance and reliability customers expect from a home security product
- Champion AI-powered development practices across the mobile organization from AI-assisted code generation and automated testing to intelligent code review and predictive quality assurance
- Architect mobile solutions that serve tens of millions of daily active users on iOS and Android
- Establish frameworks SDKs tooling and best practices that accelerate feature development improve code quality increase testability strengthen observability and streamline the path from idea to production
- Drive continuous improvement in CI/CD pipelines automated testing strategies modularization and release engineering for large-scale codebases
- Mentor and influence engineers across the organization raising the bar for mobile development practices and fostering a culture of technical excellence and experimentation
- Partner with product UX backend and infrastructure teams to deliver cohesive features that span the full stack of Rings connected device ecosystem

As a Senior Builder on the App Platform team you will:

- Shape the future of how Ring builds mobile software your architectural and tooling decisions will define the development experience for teams across the organization
- Tackle novel challenges that come with operating a large-scale production application serving millions of daily users
- Experiment with and operationalize AI-powered development workflows identifying where AI can eliminate toil catch defects earlier and accelerate delivery
- Engage in deep technical discussions about application architecture rendering performance state management and platform-specific tradeoffs with some of the best mobile engineers in the industry
- Build platform capabilities and infrastructure that protect millions of homes your work has real tangible impact on peoples sense of safety and connection

Rings App Platform team is the technical backbone of our mobile development organization. We own the cross-cutting concerns architecture tooling frameworks performance and developer experience that enable dozens of feature teams to ship high-quality software to tens of millions of users. Youll work closely with senior leadership every day. Ring is intentionally structured to break down the corporate org-chart barriers that slow teams down builders sit shoulder-to-shoulder with the leaders setting direction and decisions happen in the room rather than three layers up. That leadership is deeply hands-on actively reshaping how we think about AI in software development and shaped by a vision that has redefined what neighborhood safety looks like for communities around the world. As a Senior Builder on App Platform you wont just receive that vision youll help carry it forward into how Ring builds mobile software.

- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 7 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7 years of professional software development experience building mobile applications
- 5 years of deep native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) development with working knowledge of the other platform or equivalent depth building production mobile apps with React Native or a comparable cross-platform framework with strong familiarity with at least one underlying native platform
- Demonstrated experience building and operating applications at large scale (millions of daily active users)
- Experience designing and implementing modern mobile architectures (e.g. MVVM MVI Clean Architecture unidirectional data flow) using current platform tooling (SwiftUI/UIKit Jetpack Compose Coroutines Combine etc.)
- Strong command of the full mobile SDLC including CI/CD automated testing release management and production monitoring
- Experience leading technical initiatives that span multiple teams or influence organizational engineering practices

- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building mobile platform SDKs shared libraries or developer tooling consumed by other engineering teams
- Demonstrated adoption of AI-powered development tools and practices (AI-assisted coding automated test generation intelligent code review AI-driven debugging)
- Experience integrating cross-platform frameworks (React Native Flutter Kotlin Multiplatform) into existing native applications or operating hybrid native cross-platform architectures at scale
- Experience with monorepo tooling modularization strategies or build system optimization (Bazel Gradle SwiftPM Tuist) for large mobile codebases
- Experience with streaming video real-time communication protocols (WebRTC HLS RTSP) or media playback at scale
- Experience with connected device ecosystems (IoT Bluetooth local network protocols device pairing/provisioning)
- Performance optimization experience for resource-constrained environments (battery memory network)
