Sr Accountant II
Job Summary
The Dart family of privately held companies which includes Dart Container Corporation and Dart Interests utilizes Dart Finance Shared Services (DFSS) to deliver specialized tax accounting financial reporting treasury risk management and internal audit services to Dart affiliated entities through a highly cross-functional and cooperative work environment. As this position is within DFSS the successful candidates responsibilities with Dart will span several different industries including hospitality manufacturing real estate management and development among other industries.
The Senior Accountant II is responsible for the accounting financial reporting consolidations and combinations for US parent entities non-core US entities and affiliates. This role will also support medium to large scale financial analysis and financial projects for DFSS.
Day to Day Role
- Responsible for basic through complex accounting transactions and financial reporting for US parent entities non-core entities and assets. This includes coordinating with US operating companies accounting teams and the consolidation/combination of financial data from multiple subsidiaries into US parent entities and/or other holding companies
- Responsible for financial close and consolidation/combination process ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
- Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements and related footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP
- Accountable for design and preparation of timely monthly quarterly annual and ad-hoc financial reports and analysis
- Responsible for consolidated/combined financial statements including balance sheets income statements cash flow statements and statements of equity
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP IFRS and any other applicable accounting standards
- Research and implement new accounting pronouncements and regulations
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to the finance team and other departments
- Analyze complex accounting transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Meet regularly with other Dart affiliated entities to keep informed of relevant transactions that will require financial analysis or support etc.
- Enforce support and enhance the internal controls of DFSS and Dart affiliated entities through documentation of primary systems and related workflows cooperation and collaboration with Internal Audit and timely reporting of all financial activity
- Maintain and expand knowledge of emerging accounting issues and developments affecting the companies and the family; plan and anticipate actions and impacts
Core Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
- Bachelors degree with an emphasis in accounting or related field of study
- Requires one (1) of the following:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license OR
- Progressively complex experience and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to include multi-entity consolidations business combinations accounting research and interpretation of guidance and other like activities
- Five (5) years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience applying US GAAP IFRS and/or other international GAAPs
- Experience identifying complex accounting/financial issues analyzing data investigating resolving and communicating findings and recommendations to team members stakeholders and leaders
- Experience with ERP system (e.g. SAP) and consolidation software
- Experience using Microsoft Office including the ability to create reports documents presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to persuade and influence decision making of individuals groups or work teams and to explain complex accounting opportunities
- Strong decision making and delegation skills with ability to manage change proactively
- Strong collaboration and rapport building skills with the ability to drive team-oriented success
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with SAP and Sage Intacct
