REPORTS TO: Program and Recreation Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The Parks and Recreation Program Aide assists with the planning and implementation of recreational programs special events sports afterschool programs and other activities for various age groups. This position supports the Program and Recreation Coordinator with program operations participant supervision setup and cleanup and equipment and supplies.
Work schedules vary based on programming needs and may include days evenings weekends and occasional holidays.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Plan and organize recreational activities under the supervision of the Program and Recreation Coordinator or site supervisor.
Organize supplies and equipment and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
Complete required administrative responsibilities including attendance and participation records.
Assist with the implementation of sports programs games special events afterschool programs and other recreational activities.
Supervise participants enforce program rules and promote a safe environment.
Set up clean maintain and properly store program equipment and supplies.
Prepare facilities program areas and fields for scheduled activities.
Maintain regular communication with the Program and Recreation Coordinator and site supervisor..


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Play and engage with the children.
Assist with other various all ages programs.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor to support the overall success of the program.
Be flexible may work evenings and weekends.
Cleaning maintaining and ensuring proper use of facilities and equipment.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in recreation education or a related field is a plus.
Experience working with youth adults or seniors in recreational educational or similar settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of recreational activities sports environmental educations arts and crafts or event coordination is highly desirable.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be an excellent problem solver and solve issues in a timely manner.
Must be able to appropriately mediate situations.
Must be friendly active and like to interact and play with children of all ages.
Support others through teamwork dedication and guidance in order to achieve the completion a task or activity.
Must have complete knowledge or proven ability to learn the rules and regulations of the city program and Child Safety Policy.
