SUMMARY
The Special Education Teacher provides appropriate educational programming for elementary-aged students with ASD and related disabilities including but not limited to intellectual disabilities developmental delays and other health impairments in a sub-separate setting. The teacher employs the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other evidence-based methodologies to design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with each students IEP goals. The teacher is responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned school settings creating developmentally appropriate lesson plans and delivering structured instruction within established elementary curriculum frameworks. They will alsoutilize ABA principles such as discrete trial teaching reinforcement systems and data collection to drive instructional decisions. The teacher willcollaborate with general education teachers specialists paraprofessionals and building administrators to support student growthwhile maintaining ongoing accessible communication with parents/guardians regarding instructional programs student progress and the home-school connection.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree required - Masters degree preferred
- MA teaching license in severe special needs (Elementary level)
- Knowledge of a wide range of disabilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
- Ability to use technology effectively
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working with students with special needs in a partial inclusion or substantially separate placement
- Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
- Understanding of special education regulations and laws
JOB FUNCTIONS

- Attend departmental and school-wide meetings
- Consistent reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students
- Responsible for implementing other job related duties as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to operate computer printer telephone copier facsimile machine and all other standard office equipment
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large or small school building
- Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
