Job Summary

Start Date: August 6th for the 2026-2027 School Year
Position Type: Full-time 164 days per year
Location: Cañon Exploratory School

Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the Instructional Support Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education $17.86-$19.29 per hour/minimum pay $50.00 a day extra if assigned as a certified substitute teacher.

Purpose of the Job: Operates under general guidelines provided by a supervising teacher under the direction of the site administrator(s) and provides instructional supervisory general and/or special educational assistance to students and teachers. Special Education implements specialized programming and/or instructional support both in and outside of the general education classroom supervised by the special education teacher for the purpose of student growth.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Proficiency on paraprofessional assessment possess an AA Degree or the equivalency of two years of undergraduate college classes (approximately 48 hours) preferred.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members students and the public.
  • Ability to read write and speak in order to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
  • Experience in Lindamood Bell preferred.
  • MANDT Training to be completed upon hire.
  • Pass pre-employment physical.
  • Must be willing to obtain if needed a substitute teaching license (paid for by district).

POSITION DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • The ability to work with multiple grade level students and sensitive material.
  • Demonstrate reliability in all work situations.
  • Present a professional appearance personally and in the work area.
  • Promote and maintain positive working relationships with peers students parents and the public.
  • Be knowledgeable about the job.
  • Always strive to stay on task and produce high quality work.
  • Under the direction of the supervising teacher implement schedules and routines work 1-to-1 in small groups or in full classroom settings.
  • Complete and perform clerical tasks and support school-wide and classroom management plans.
  • Meet the educational physical and emotional needs of a variety of students assigned.
  • Model the Districts Mission and Belief Statements.
  • Possess skills to be able to utilize basic technology as directed by the District to communicate and function effectively.
  • May include outside supervision in inclement weather.
  • Assist with supervisory clerical or other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to the district classified handbook and school staff handbook.
  • May be asked to sub in classrooms when needed.
