The Sociology Department Work-Study student will serve as a Newsletter Editor Sociology Club Participant and Office Assistant.
Department: Department of Sociology Location: Lippman Hall 212/221
Supervisor: Prof Deirdre Hill Butler
Work Available: Days
Rate of Pay: $ 9.70/hr
Number of Positions available: 1
Duties and Responsibilities:
Edit and format the Sociology Department newsletter
Collect newsletter submissions from Sociology faculty students and Sociology Club members
Organize newsletter content including department events faculty research student work and Sociology Club activities
Collaborate with Sociology Club members and faculty to highlight student engagement and departmental programming
Help promote Sociology Club events and department activities
Create course flyers and other department promotional materials
Assist with making copies organizing materials and supporting general office tasks
Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Department Chair and Administrative Assistant
Support clear and professional communication within the department
Qualifications:
Strong writing editing and proofreading skills
Ability to organize content clearly and professionally
Familiarity with basic flyer design or willingness to learn
Good communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work with faculty students and staff in a professional manner
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
Dependable organized and able to follow directions
Ability to work independently after training and guidance from department faculty and staff
Location: Schenectady NY
