In this role youll:
- Implement lifecycle strategies and programs for slopes within the region as informed by analysing and interpreting slope asset inventory condition history traffic failure cost and other relevant information to achieve TfNSW standards and requirements
- Prepare briefs develop monitor and manage projects and report on progress in order to evaluate program and project performance for current and forward years in order to comply with agreed object
- Manage the development of slope works to determine the extent and type of maintenance work required on the slopes in the region and prepare scope documents for planned maintenance actions to manage identified issues and risks.
- Manage service agreements in collaboration with the pavement and corridor program team for work undertaken by service providers and control and oversee the development implementation and delivery of specific slope projects to ensure that specified outcomes are achieved to agreed time cost and quality levels.
- Coordinate management of third-party slope structures impacting on state roads assets to ensure road safety
- Provide specialist engineering advice on slope works for rehabilitation and maintenance projects so as to contribute to the management of technical risk in slope maintenance and planning and to ensure consistency of standards across the region.
- Ensure that slope maintenance project risks issues dependencies and impediments are managed effectively to support smooth project delivery ensuring issues and risks are escalated effectively and provide solutions to mitigate risk.
- Ensure that at key points in the slope project maintenance effective governance checkpoints are followed including holding appropriate meetings to allow stakeholders to assess the progress of the project.
We have one permanent full-time position based in the north zone.
- North role based in Grafton or Newcastle.

About you
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in the design construction inspection and/or maintenance of slopes.
- Demonstrated ability in the analysis of slope information interpretation of bridge plans and geotechnical reports survey estimating budgeting and scheduling.
- Ability to appraise projects and sub-programs in terms of financial economic or other criteria to prioritise projects within a program.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills negotiation skills and the ability to deal tactfully with people at all levels.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
Essential requirements:
- A four-year civil/structural engineering degree from an Australian university or an equivalent overseas qualification acceptable under the Washington Accord for professional recognition within Australia or physical geography/geology/geoscience degree (or equivalent).
- Possess and maintain a valid White Card prior to commencement of duties.
- The role requires employment screening/security checks including a Criminal Record Check clearance prior to appointment.
- Possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license.
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours and travel on occasion.
