Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Application Engineer to lead the technical evaluation of conventional nuclear controls upgrade opportunities. This role is responsible for the detailed technical review and response to customer specifications and requests for proposals and supporting the definition of standardized offerings for nuclear controls upgrades for non-safety related applications in steam turbine balance of plant and generator controls.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical knowledge of control system applications for steam turbine and balance of plant controls with nuclear project execution and nuclear quality assurance process experience.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary application team to respond to customer technical specifications for conventional nuclear non-safety related controls upgrades including; steam turbine controls balance of plant controls (such as feed water level controls) generator excitation controls HMI/network/cyber security mechanical instrumentation and controls lifecycle applications.
• Coordinate with Controls Engineering Technical Leaders and Product Design Owners to develop clear compliant and competitive technical responses to customer inquiries. Defining engineering effort and material requirements to achieve customer expectations and nuclear industry standards for quality aligned with our engineering manufacturing and product capabilities.
• Own the Technical Application Guide definition for nuclear controls applications; creating and maintaining Technical Application Guides (TAGs) which define standards for engineering design effort material/hardware definition technical proposal language for standard products and overall technical quoting limits.
• Support the commercialization of new product designs for nuclear controls applications creating or revising TAGs to support the quotation of new products/applications.
• Support technical discussions with customers for strategic deal development; providing technical insight on GEV products and services for nuclear controls collecting voice of customer responding to technical inquiries on GEV submitted proposals and providing feedback to the businesss commercial and product management organizations on control solutions that meet the customer needs in the nuclear market.
• Support continuous improvement of Technical Application Guides by engaging in project reviews with commercial project management engineering and field service teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical Nuclear Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry work experience with control system applications or controls project execution.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in the nuclear industry.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

Desired Characteristics

• Experience supporting nuclear power plant modernization or control system upgrade projects.
• Knowledge of relevant nuclear quality safety and regulatory expectations.
• GE Vernova Mark VIe/EX2100e Control System knowledge and experience.
• Significant experience in technical application/proposal engineering.
• Strong understanding of control system architecture instrumentation HMI systems cyber security and integration principles.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and develop practical engineering responses balancing standard solutions with project specific requirements.
• High attention to detail in technical proposal development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $124500.00 and $207700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
