Brief Job Overview
The Senior Technical Advisor Pricing Strategy & Access provides strategic and technical leadership for the design and implementation of pricing affordability and market access interventions under the Medicines Supply Resilience (MedSuRe) project.
The role focuses on ensuring that qualityâassured regionally manufactured essential medicines are competitively and sustainably priced across a range of market channels including public and private sector markets to support uptake scale and longâterm access. This includes supporting manufacturers and partners through costâofâgoods sold (COGS) analysis pricing scenario development and market assessments that reflect diverse purchasing environments.
The Senior Technical Advisor works closely with market access procurement regulatory and manufacturing teams; MedSuRe consortium partners; and national regional and global stakeholders to address pricingâ and accessârelated barriers across multiple market segments.

The Senior Technical Advisor has the following responsibilities:
- Lead pricing strategy affordability and access analyses for MedSuReâsupported products across public and private sector markets including price benchmarking and market segmentation.
- Conduct and support costâofâgoods sold (COGS) analyses in collaboration with manufacturers and technical teams to inform realistic competitive pricing strategies.
- Translate COGS insights into pricing scenarios tailored to different market channels volumes and purchasing mechanisms.
- Develop and support implementation of accessâoriented pricing strategies suitable for mixed markets including tiered pricing volumeâbased pricing and channelâspecific pricing approaches.
- Work with manufacturers to align production costs scaleâup assumptions and regulatory requirements with sustainable access objectives across multiple markets.
- Engage with publicâsector institutional and privateâsector stakeholders on pricing and affordability considerations including expectations for competitiveness and sustainability.
- Contribute to broader market access and market shaping strategies ensuring pricing decisions reflect realâworld market dynamics rather than singleâchannel assumptions.
- Collaborate closely with regulatory and manufacturing teams to ensure pricing strategies are consistent with quality compliance and commercial feasibility.
- Represent USP and MedSuRe in technical discussions and consultations related to pricing affordability and access across market segments.
Who is USP Looking For
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders along with the following competencies and experience:
- Masters degree in health economics public health pharmaceutical policy economics supply chain or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in pharmaceutical pricing market access health economics or affordability analysis in LMICs.
- Demonstrated experience supporting publicâsector medicine access pricing negotiations or pooled procurement mechanisms.
- Strong analytical skills including experience with pricing models affordability analyses and market assessments.
- Demonstrated experience conducting or interpreting COGS analyses for pharmaceuticals or health products.
- Ability to translate cost structures into practical pricing and access recommendations for publicâsector and donorâfunded markets.
- Proven ability to work effectively with manufacturers procurement agencies donors and international partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are an asset.
- Ability to travel internationally as required (approximately 25%).
Additional Desired Preferences
- Experience with market shaping or access interventions for essential medicines.
- Familiarity with pricing and access challenges in subâSaharan Africa or other LMIC contexts.
- Experience working within multiâpartner consortia or donorâfunded global health programs.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $127102.00 $156550.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidates skill set experience qualifications equity and other job-related reasons.
