Senior Network Engineer

The Opportunity:

Peraton is seeking a talented Network Engineer to join our team in Chantilly VA to assist with the clients complex infrastructure with expertise spanning multiple critical domains including custom cross-domain architecture. Your work will focus on designing engineering and implementation of complex mission networks.

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the intricacies and interdependencies within these systems enabling informed decision-making and providing strategic guidance
• Spend a significant amount of time dedicated towards assisting improving reliability in each of the systems and researching root-cause of Tier 2 related tickets
• Foster collaborative partnerships across functional teams and identify opportunities to build efficiencies into innovative IT systems that support the cyber mission systems
• Required to participate in the 24/7 duty phone rotation estimated at 3x per year

Required

• Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA in a relevant technical discipline; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with PhD
• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph
• 5 years in Network Engineering (LAN/WAN Communications Computer Systems Cross Domain) Computer Science Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience
• Strong background in CI/CD in relationship to Cross Domain Solutions and general software development
• Sound judgement problem solving and decision-making skills with an ability to adapt to emerging issues and changing priorities under short deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and stay abreast of leading-edge technologies
• Experience with network security technologies such as:
  o Firewalls (configuration rule management)
  o Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
  o Secure network architecture design
  o Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP DNS DHCP etc.) architectures (LAN WAN WLAN) and devices (routers switches firewalls)

Desired

• Experience with both on-premise and cloud deployment technologies and automation
• Detailed oriented organized able to multitask and adaptable to shifting requirements
• Flexibility works well both independently and as a team player; must be eager to learn
• Candidate should be a self-starter and possess a willingness to dive into new technologies when appropriate
• Experience implementing and documenting standard operating procedures of systems or networks (e.g. Linux Window Cloud platforms etc.)
