How you will make an impact
The Senior Manager Cost Accounting serves as the subject matter expert for inventory manufacturing and cost accounting with responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory valuation standard costing COGS accounting and related financial reporting. This role leverages strong technical accounting expertise and business partnership skills to support operational performance enhance financial processes and controls and provide decision-support analysis across the manufacturing and supply chain organization. The position partners closely with Manufacturing Supply Chain Quality and FP&A teams to ensure accurate financial reporting strong internal controls and business insights that support operational excellence and strategic decision-making.
In this role youll have the opportunity to:
- Lead all aspects of inventory accounting cost accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting including inventory valuation standard costing manufacturing variance analysis and related financial reporting.
- Own maintain and continuously enhance standard costing methodologies product costing models and inventory valuation processes including annual cost updates.
- Ensure inventory is accurately valued and COGS is correctly recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Analyze manufacturing inventory and purchase price variances providing insightful analysis of key drivers emerging risks and opportunities to support operational and financial performance.
- Lead inventory reserve analyses including excess obsolete and slow-moving inventory assessments and collaborate with business partners to evaluate inventory-related risks and trends.
- Perform month-end quarter-end and year-end close activities related to inventory manufacturing costs and COGS including preparation of journal entries account reconciliations and supporting analyses.
- Prepare financial analyses management reporting and supporting schedules related to inventory manufacturing operations and product profitability.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain Manufacturing Quality and FP&A teams to provide accounting guidance and support costing analytics budgeting forecasting business decisions and operational initiatives.
- Drive continuous process improvement automation and system enhancement initiatives to improve the accuracy efficiency and scalability of inventory and cost accounting operations.
- Support internal and external audits including SOX compliance activities with high-quality documentation and timely responses.
- Maintain execute and continuously improve internal controls accounting policies procedures and documentation related to inventory manufacturing and cost accounting processes.
- Provide accounting guidance and costing for new products and arrangements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed in this role youll need:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (Masters degree and/or MBA preferred).
- CPA or CMA required (active certification preferred).
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive finance and technical accounting experience including public accounting and/or public company experience.
- Minimum of eight years of cost accounting standard costing manufacturing supply chain internal controls and SOX compliance experience (Med device pharmaceutical biotech life sciences or healthcare preferred).
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft tools and financial data analysis.
- Experience driving process improvement automation and scalable reporting solutions.
- Experience working with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).

The most likely base pay range for this position is $140K - $175K per year. Several factors such as experience tenure skills and particular business needs will determine an individuals exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses sales incentives and equity awards.
