Senior Manager Applied Science, Prime Video Personalization & Discovery

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies series documentaries and live sports including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV Max Crunchyroll and MGM. All customers regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

Prime Video Personalization and Discovery organization operates at a global scale and is a critical part of Prime Videos flywheel. We are responsible for matching customers with the right content at the right time at all touch points throughout customers content discovery journey: from home page title page and search page to showing recommendations at the end of an episode or a movie. We drive both immediate and long-term business objectives while delighting our customers.



Key job responsibilities
As a Sr. Manager Applied Science in the Prime Video Personalization and Discovery organization you will be responsible for optimizing the complete customer experience across the touch points throughout customers discovery journey. This includes building AI and optimization solutions working with product engineering teams to deliver the optimal balance of customer delight and business outcomes.

Prime Video Personalization and Discovery (PVPD) is dedicated to creating a highly personalized content discovery experience that not only delights our customers but also drives both short-and long-term business goals. Our scope includes personalized recommendations search marketing and the advanced machine learning technology and infrastructure that underpins these experiences. Our mission is to automate and enhance customer engagement through personalization using ML and Generative AI.

- 10 years of building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale experience
- Masters degree in Computer Science (Machine Learning AI Statistics or equivalent)
- Experience building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale
- Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives
- Experience hiring and leading experienced scientists as well as having a successful record of developing junior members from academia or industry to a successful career track

- 10 years of practical work applying ML to solve complex problems for large-scale applications experience
- 5 years of hands-on work in big data machine learning and predictive modeling experience
- 5 years of people management experience
- PhD in Computer Science (Machine Learning AI Statistics or equivalent)
- Experience in practical work applying ML to solve complex problems for large scale applications
- Experience working with big data machine learning and predictive modeling
- Experience in people management
- Experience with big data technologies such as AWS Hadoop Spark Pig Hive etc.
- Experience with Java C or other programming language as well as with R MATLAB Python or an equivalent scripting language
- Experience researching actual applications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
