The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing budgets estimates and pre-bid packages for construction projects. Responsibilities also include working with the project management team in establishing a bidders list soliciting and evaluating subcontractor proposals and scopes of work preparing quantity surveys and reviewing project plans and specifications for constructability. Senior Estimators are expected to serve as lead on Estimating projects.
Responsibilities
Utilize and build upon Thomas Standards of Estimating Expectations.
Performs accurate thorough and timely quantity takeoffs.
Manages multiple projects concurrently with ability to multitask.
Provide leadership and supervision to estimating team.
Obtains clarification on plans and specifications from architects and engineers when necessary.
Solicits and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing input when required.
Considers and understands problems and identifies appropriate solutions.
Attends project site pre-bid meetings site tours and post-bid interviews as required.
Develops unit costs accurately.
Develops and analyzes value management analysis options.
Performs technical/plan review when required.
Thoroughly review RFI to gain knowledge of full project scope and specific trades needed; ensure understanding of subcontractor needs to meet project scope.
Performs a comprehensive bid day analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades.
Understands how to fit subs to the size/scope of project.
Drive continuous improvement with alternate approaches constructability review and value-engineering ideas.
Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with Architect Owner and/or Construction Manager to close business.
Properly turns over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner.
Competencies
Demonstrated understanding of building processes and systems.
Knowledge of Timberline P6 BIM Onscreen Takeoff.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
BS Degree in Engineering discipline Engineering Technology or Construction Management Construction Technology.
6 years of pre-construction and/or operations experience on commercial projects.
