Platform Software Engineer at Clover

About The Team:

At Clover we deliver a leading Point of Sale system with an elegant end-to-end solution that includes beautiful devices cloud-based POS software payments processing platform APIs for third-party developers and an ecosystem with over 220 apps. Our platform powers merchants of all sizes from tiny shops to large stadiums supporting millions of transactions daily.

What You Will Do:

• Design and implement core server platform components.
• Work with developers who utilize the platform and use their feedback to evolve it.
• Help your teammates grow through better processes practices and technical guidance.
• Scale systems sustainably through automation and contribute changes that improve reliability and velocity.
• Conduct blameless postmortems for incidents and diligently follow through with remediations.
• Evaluate and implement new technological solutions through proof of concept and drive to completion.

What You Will Need To Have:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of industry experience.
• Proficiency in programming with Java Python Go or C.
• Experience with modern containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing backend services.
• Competency in data structures algorithms operating systems and software design.
• Aptitude for diagnosing technical issues debugging code and automating routine tasks.
• Experience working with relational databases.

What Would Be Great To Have:

• Service decomposition.
• Building deploying and maintaining large scale services.
• Multi-threading concurrency and parallel processing.
• Familiarity with various technologies:
  • Cloud: Kubernetes (EKS or GKE) Virtual Machine (GCE or EC2) networking and provisioning (Terraform).
  • Service development API: OpenAPI Protobuf GQL.
  • Service mesh: Istio Linkerd Consul.
  • Proxy: Nginx HAProxy Envoy Apache Server.
  • Caching: Redis Memorystore.
  • Observability: Datadog Prometheus ELK Grafana Splunk.

Salary Range

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
