As a Safety Specialist in Los Angeles CA you will be at the heart of ensuring safe reliable journeys for thousands every day. Your expertise will help secure the Automated People Mover system connecting communities and supporting sustainable mobility across the city.

Your role Your impact

  • Lead the development and oversight of Public Transit Agency Safety Plan requirements for APM operations.

  • Develop implement and enforce Roadway Worker Protection programs including training and compliance monitoring.

  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures aligned with regulatory and operational safety needs.

  • Provide field safety oversight for operations maintenance and contractor activities to ensure safe execution.

  • Support and lead incident accident and near-miss investigations ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Youll work with sharp committed teams across engineering operations and design solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility. As Safety Specialist you will drive operational excellence and safety culture in every aspect of the Automated People Mover system.

What you bring

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety Engineering Transportation or equivalent experience.

  • Experience or understanding of rail transit Automated People Mover systems or regulated environments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessments and safety analyses.

  • Ability to develop and enforce SOPs in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

  • Proven communication leadership and collaboration skills to build trust-based relationships and empower teams.

How success is measured

  • Effective implementation and compliance with CPUC OSHA and safety regulations.

  • Continuous improvement in safety performance metrics and reduction of incidents.

  • Positive feedback from teams contractors and regulatory agencies on safety culture and practices.

Salary Range: $95000 - $115000
