GENERAL SUMMARY
The Safety & Security Specialist (Central Office Receptionist) reports to the Director of Safety and Security and assists with the districts mission to provide the highest quality of education by providing for the Safety & Security of all students staff and property. This position performs a variety of clerical tasks; and provides customer service which includes operating switchboard assisting and directing visitors and clerical work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide professional customer service by answering the Springfield Public Schools Department main telephone line greeting and signing in visitors directing guests to appropriate locations and providing accurate and helpful information.
- Co-manage the districts CORI SORI and fingerprinting processes ensuring procedures are completed accurately and in accordance with district requirements.
- Process driver history record requests as needed.
- Enter and process requisitions and purchase orders through the districts MUNIS financial management system.
- Review archive retrieve and produce video footage for law enforcement and court related requests.
- Update the districts Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) annually to support safety and emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Produce and distribute staff identification badges.
- Utilize the districts access control system to assign modify and maintain building access for authorized individuals.
- Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties including maintaining records tracking statistics preparing spreadsheets monitoring office supplies and managing incoming calls.
- Professionally manage interactions with staff students families visitors and members of the public.
- Effectively de-escalate and resolve challenging or uncooperative interactions with visitors and callers while maintaining a professional and courteous approach.
- Provide administrative and operational coverage for the Safety and Security Office as needed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications to complete administrative organizational and reporting responsibilities.
- Demonstrate strong organizational communication interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Attend required staff development programs training sessions and professional learning opportunities.
- Assist with the daily administrative and operational functions of the department.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual candidate preferred.
- Requires at least 1-2 years of experience in the field.
- Relevant associate degree required or educational requirement may be substituted for at least 3 years of experience in relevant field .
- Office / Clerical experience preferred.
- Valid Drivers License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires employee be in an office school and outdoor environment. Employee is frequently exposed to individuals who are rude or irate and is occasionally exposed to individuals with known violent backgrounds.
