Job Summary
2 - 10 years of experience in electromechanical technician roles troubleshooting and repairing equipment
Troubleshooting electromechanical systems (robotics automotive AV drones industrial automation or data centers)
Experience at robotics companies (1X Figure Skydio Zipline) AV companies (Waymo Cruise) Tesla or defense manufacturers
Maintained equipment in 24/7 production or deployment environments
No degree required; trade school or community college is typical
Electrical debugging: multimeters schematics DC circuit troubleshooting
Basic Linux/CLI proficiency (SSH logs running commands)
Experience with CAN bus ROS or industrial protocols
Systematic debugger who isolates problems independently not just follows procedures
Must work on-site in San Francisco full-time
Willingness to travel to data center deployments is a plus
Wants to use technician role as stepping stone to engineering; Watney views these as separate career paths
Only follows written procedures; lacks live troubleshooting instinct
Left previous role due to performance issues (especially ex-Tesla)
