Role Overview
An aerospace and defense manufacturing organization in Carson CA is seeking an experienced Program Manager to oversee medium to large complex manufacturing programs from initiation through delivery. This role owns full program lifecycle execution customer satisfaction financial performance and operational success while leading cross-functional teams in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a program management professional with aerospace manufacturing experience strong financial ownership skills and Integrated Product Team (IPT/ITP) leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full program lifecycle execution financial performance and customer satisfaction
- Lead cross-functional teams including Project Managers and IPT leaders
- Serve as the primary customer interface for assigned programs
- Develop and manage Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) program plans and milestones
- Monitor program financials forecasts and performance metrics
- Drive corrective actions and operational improvements when needed
- Manage program risks mitigation plans and scope control
- Lead milestone reviews including PDR CDR and PRR reviews
- Coordinate resources across engineering manufacturing supply chain and operations
- Deliver quarterly financial reporting and long-term program projections
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean manufacturing efforts
- Coach and mentor team members while supporting operational excellence
Requirements
- Bachelors degree required
- Engineering degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of program management experience in aerospace or similar manufacturing environment
- Strong financial management and P&L ownership experience
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and Integrated Product Teams (IPT/ITP)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience with risk management change management and scope control
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel up to 30-40%
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing background
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
- PMP certification or equivalent preferred
- Experience managing long-cycle manufacturing programs
- Strong operational and customer relationship management skills
