Pre-Professional Health Club Advisor

The Pre-Professional Advisor is responsible for advising students who wish to enter a pre-health career and/or professional addition this position holds the responsibilities described below.

• Maintain a minimum of three office hours per week for appointments and schedule other times as needed in addition to being available by email and phone
• Advising will consist of course selection interview preparation application reviews and overall navigation of professional schools and careers
• Develop a system with defined benchmarks for each area of interest (such as pre-medical pre-dentistry pre-veterinary and others) to guide students through the application process
• Establish a mechanism to measure individual progress towards graduation and professional school
• Establish a network of locations for students to do internships/medical observation hours
• Serve as a co-advisor for the Pre Health-Professions Club
• Work with faculty to create and maintain a Health Professions Advisory Committee at Alvernia University

The Pre-Professional Advisor reports to the Chair of the Science Department and consults with the Dean of the College of STEAM and other administrative staff asappropriate.
