Power Electronics Engineer

As a Power Electronics Engineer on the hardware team you will be responsible for owning the design manufacture and test of power circuitry for highly integrated PCBAs used by a large number of space customers. You will work with a small team of software RF hardware and FPGA engineers to shepherd the product from initial design to vehicle integration taking a full-stack approach to building robust space communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Design analyze and test DC-DC power converters for space

• Work on electrical power system and sub-system level design trades and develop requirements

• Define and perform electrical power system verification testing and analysis

• Work with multidisciplinary teams of hardware software and production engineers to create new power electronics hardware

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering computer engineering physics or other STEM discipline

• 3 years of professional experience designing power circuitry

• Proven experience doing schematic capture and layout in Altium Designer or similar

• Experience in modeling simulation and testing of power electronics

• Experience designing and debugging power converters

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Masters degree in electrical engineering or related field

• Familiar with failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMEA)

• Experience designing power trees with complex sequencing requirements

• Experience with hand-on impedance measurement and loop-gain measurement

• Working experience in voltage and current mode control and compensation design

• Strong grasp of DC-DC topologies with ability to select optimal architectures and components

• Familiarity with a wide range of topologies such as push-pull buck boost buck-boost forward half-bridge full-bridge LLC resonant and phase-shifted full-bridge converters

• Familiarity with spacecraft electrical power systems
