The Post Heart Transplant outpatient team is looking for an Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) to join their team! Five 8-hour shifts M-F. No weekends nights or holiday requirement. Rotating on-call duties required. The location is at Inova Center for Personalized Health.
The Post Heart Transplant outpatient team is looking for an Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) to join their team! Five 8-hour shifts M-F. No weekend requirement. Rotating on-call duties required. APP experience preferred; prior transplant and/cardiology experience preferred.
Position Description:
- APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus
- Day shift. No weekend requirement
- Some call required - Rotational patient phone calls 24/7
- Provide outpatient coverage at Inovas Post Heart Transplant Clinic at Fairfax Medical Campus

Position Qualifications:
- Graduation for an accredited NP or PA program. Must be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
- Nurse Practitioner: Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP AGACNP certification preferred based on population served.
- Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Masters Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
- APP experience preferred; prior transplant and/cardiology experience preferred.
- Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fasted paced high acuity work environment. Able to perform a thorough history and physical assessment.
- VA License
- EPIC experience preferred
Minimum Requirements:
- Certification -Basic Life Support prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start
- Licensure -Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner;If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence)AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a Practice Agreement signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s) AND a written Scope of Practice/Protocol signed by the supervising physician AND Drug Enforcement Administration License (if prescribing controlled substances).
- Experience -No prior experience required; APP experience highly preferred.
Education -For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelors Degree in Nursing and Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools American College of Nurse Midwives American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
