We are currently seeking experienced and motivated candidates for the role of Plant Modeling Engineer (PME) to support the Global Virtual Engineering (GVE) department. This role is part of a group responsible for creating virtual environments to enable calibration verification and validation of embedded controllers for engine transmission hybrid electrification and chassis.
The Plant Modeling Engineer is responsible for leading the move to virtual engineering by creating sensor and actuator virtual assets for full-vehicle cross-functional co-simulation packages that are used for all aspects of vehicle development. This position involves high level of collaboration with teams throughout General Motors including Global Electrification & Battery Systems (GEBS) Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls (VMEC) Calibration Algorithm Vehicle Performance Validation and Hardware Development. This position requires an individual with a passion for virtualization an adept knowledge of hardware and software integrated systems and a demonstrated capability to manage a wide variety of technical and customer needs. A balance of technical and project leadership skills and the ability to think outside the box to find simple yet exciting solutions is paramount.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Read and understand electrical drawings including circuit and control diagnostics of a device (sensor or actuator)
Develop sensor / actuator plant model architecture in Simulink or appropriate virtual tool
Follow and set interface standards to be used by VHiL HiL SiL and CoSim environments for consumption
Define and execute test cases based on customer feedback and model development
Lead and execute device data acquisition collection to aid in characterization of performance and diagnostic responses of the device
Manage change management (enhancement release notes test cases technical support) of a model
Define virtualization requirements for modeling supplier hardware and controls community
Bring various groups together to comprehend supplier hardware controls and diagnostics requirements
Ability to drive balance between long term and short term actuator and sensor virtualization model requirements (fidelity) between inhouse resources and supplier based solutions
Coordinate and balance virtual requirements between vehicle and propulsion domains of common devices
Collect and comprehend Vehicle Calibration differences and translate that into model design robustness for implementing variation
Ability to understand differences between analog inputs H bridge drivers High side PWM frequency
Ability to understand controller HWIO and or LIN CAN and SENT protocols
Ability to comprehend the subsystem differences between ECU HWIO sensor and actuator sub-system functionality of a given devices.
Ability to read and comprehend software source code and models actions.
Familiarity with version control systems (VCS) tools like Git SVN and TFS.
Familiarity with simulation data management (SDM) systems like TeamCenter and RTC.
Familiarity with GCC compiler gdb debugger Eclipse and ETAS INCA measurement and calibration tools
