Job Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant acts as an integral member of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation staff providing clinical physical therapy treatments in accordance with an established patient plan of care. Operating under the general supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist (RPT) this position executes specialized exercises and therapy modalities to safely relieve pain restore functional performance and educate patients and caregivers on daily self-care techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver therapeutic treatmentsexactly as prescribed by the physician and outlined in the active rehabilitation plan of care.
  • Restore physical functionand manage pain using physical therapy mechanisms including targeted therapeutic exercise massage heat water light and electricity modalities.
  • Direct and assist patientsthrough active/passive exercises muscle re-education gait training daily functional mobility training transfer activities and prosthetic training protocols.
  • Safely operate specialized clinical machinery including ultrasound units diathermy machines shortwave generation and infrared/ultraviolet lamps.
  • Observe record and reportpatient treatment reactions biometric changes and clinical condition updates precisely to the supervising RPT.
  • Complete and submitclinical charting notes and mandatory insurance/care system documentation in full alignment with strict facility compliance timelines.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Licensure:Must hold an active Physical Therapist Assistant license in Vermont AND New Hampshire OR possess a valid multi-state PTA Compact License.
  • Education:Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Life Support:Current Basic Life Support (BLS / BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of recent experience working as a licensed PTA in a home health care or related ambulatory clinical setting.
