Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00a 5:00p
PATIENT INFORMATION
Patient Demographics: Primarily pediatric patients; some adults with developmental delays and double vision
Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 1214 patients per day
Case Mix: Pediatric optometry strabismus binocular vision exams developmental and high-acuity pediatric cases
FACILITY INFORMATION
Trauma Level: Pediatric Level I-IV
EMR System: Epic
Office Equipment Available: Full pediatric ophthalmology imaging devices and diagnostic equipment
Specialty Backup Available: Ophthalmologists and pediatric specialists
Support Staff Available: Technicians ophthalmologists and optometrists
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 6090 days

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
Pediatric eye examinations
Strabismus and binocular vision evaluations
Contact lens fitting and complex pediatric contact lens fitting
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Licenses: Active California Optometry license required
Board: TBD
Certifications: BLS required
Experience: Minimum 3 years of pediatric population experience in a medical center setting if no pediatric residency completed
Other Qualifications: Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree required; pediatric optometry residency highly preferred; extensive experience with complex pediatric populations required
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide comprehensive pediatric optometry services in an outpatient and hospital setting
Evaluate and manage patients with strabismus and binocular vision disorders
Perform patient workups assessments and treatment planning
Document patient encounters accurately within Epic EMR
Collaborate with ophthalmologists technicians and multidisciplinary pediatric specialists
