Job Summary

The Power Systems Engineer is responsible for applying advanced electrical engineering expertise to the design implementation and support of power system automation and protection solutions. This role requires strong knowledge of electrical power systems and demonstrated experience using industry-standard tools such as PSSE ETAP and/or RTDS. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to safety accuracy and efficiency. The Customer applications include but are not limited to:

  • Data Centers
  • Utilities Generation Transmission and Distribution
  • Industrial Plants and Universities Substation and Switchgear
  • Renewables Wind Solar and BESS

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience using PSSE ETAP and/or RTDS
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems including analysis modeling Testing and analyzing system behavior
  • Ability to understand and apply engineering principles within a power systems focus area
  • Strong problem-solving organizational and communication skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Possess understand and apply fundamental concepts practices and procedures within a power systems focus area and related SEL products. Train and assist customers in the creation design configuration validation installation commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems. Complete assigned work within agreed-upon scope schedule and budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Participate in the preparation of functional design specifications. Prepare and maintain detailed design documents reports checklists test reports and other deliverables. Follow and apply SEL Values Principles of Operations and World Class Manufacturing Principles. Embrace and demonstrate the mindset: Understand. Create. Simplify. Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Engineer in Training certificate
  • Experience in power system modeling testing and study
  • Experience with protection relays SCADA systems or automation platforms
  • Familiarity with utility or industrial power systems environments
  • Experience in commissioning or field support activities

The salary range for this position is $97000-$140000 per year. This position is eligible for the following benefits: medical dental and vision insurance; 401(k); ESOP; paid time off; and paid holidays.
