Packaging SupervisorGannett Publishing ServicesPeoria ILThe Packaging Supervisor collaborates with the Associate Packaging Manager in the day-to-day supervisory duties and operations of the Packaging Center to ensure the integrity accuracy and timeliness of products as part of a packaging crew to coordinate overall post-press operations during a designated shift to achieve & maintain on-time production performance including product quality and accuracy standards operational safety including OSHA & EPA compliance as well as positive employee & customer Department TasksProduction & shift production during assigned shifts including training new hire onboarding and addressing employee issues and/or for inserting accuracy and integrity. Ensure that daily production is completed in a high quality and timely accurate product hands-on duties of Packaging Operator as needed due to staff shortage machine problems and various unexpected workflow operation of preprint management systems inserter drive controls and related and verify inventory of strap bottom wrap and consumable parts and Manager/Assistant Manager with packaging reports and web portal data Packaging Operator trainingSafetyMaintain a clean and safe work environment. Assist in leading safety compliance within the department including accident investigations and follow required annual OSHA safety training programs: Lockout/Tag-out Hazardous Communications Personal Protective Equipment Hearing Conservation Blood Borne Pathogens work-related injuries to insurance all machine safety guards are installed functioning properly and in report any operational concerns potential safety hazards and all accidents/injuries and near misses to packaging timely and accurate information to management as for communication regarding equipment repairs and/or consumable materials to upper scheduling needs to all packaging supervisors and/or packaging school diploma or GED business management degree or comparable experience years packaging equipment operator experience two years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment of OSHA regulations language fluency: Speaking reading & leadership skills above average verbal & written communication excellent time management skills working in a fast-paced deadline driven environmentMechanical aptitude Skills including Microsoft Office: E-mail Excel Department equipment experience.
