ASML US including its affiliates and subsidiaries bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster cheaper more energy-efficient microchips. We design develop integrate market and service these advanced machines which enable our customers - the worlds leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips which in turn leads to smaller more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven Netherlands and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler Arizona San Jose and San Diego California Wilton Connecticut and Hillsboro Oregon.

Role and responsibilities

The main responsibility of the researcher is to contribute to the detailed design analysis and validation of advanced optical systems. The work will focus on testing and characterization of the system including planning and executing tests developing and maintaining test scripts in Matlab and/or Labview and performing optical simulations. The role may include testing of the system in a lab environment and/or on a full lithography tool. Regular reporting of results is required and the opportunity to drive or contribute to alternate design concepts may arise as test results become available. The researcher will work closely with other researchers and engineers and is expected to operate with a high degree of technical ownership and accountability.

Education and experience

Required qualifications:

Masters or PhD degree from an accredited university in the following (or closely related fields):

  • Optics or Optical Engineering
  • Physics
  • Electrical Engineering

Experience

Minimum qualifications the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:

  • Masters degree with 2 years of relevant experience or a PhD

  • Experience with Matlab Lumerical Labview and/or KLayout
  • Functional experience in a lab in Optics
  • Integrated Optics Chip design experience
  • Photonic Integrated Circuits

  • The candidate must work well in a dynamic environment and be a strong team player.
  • The candidate must have strong communication skills especially in technical writing and presenting.

Other information

  • This position is located on-site in Wilton CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork collaboration and innovation.

Additional Responsibilities:

There is potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields high voltage and currents.

This position requires access to controlled technology as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730 et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
