Wieland is hiring an Operator. This role is responsiblefor producing a quality product in an efficient manner including set up calibration and production changeovers when necessary. The operator assists Maintenance Techs with the completion of both preventative maintenance and breakdown tasks in order to minimize down time. The operator directs other production and support employees and performs administrative duties.

Starting Pay: $32.17

Schedule: Rotating Swing Shift

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Operator Responsibilities:

  • Operate annealing cleaning and slitting equipment involved in the production of copper brass and alloy strip.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklift crane etc.)
  • Utilize shop floor MES computer program to determine what to run equipment parameters quality deliverables and other tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations and reports service requests as needed.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to complete tasks to minimize down time.
  • Follow direction of department leader(s).
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve department goals.
  • Perform routine inspection of work area to ensure sites are kept clean and safe.
  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Supervisor Safety or HR.
  • Follow Daily Procedures & Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
  • Attend meeting and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
  • Work in other departments as needed.
  • Perform General Laborer tasks as required.
  • Participate daily with general housekeeping of warehouse and work area.
  • Perform measurements and visual inspection of material record results and determine if material conforms to requirements.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Operator Qualifications:

  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Ability to read and understand packaging and shipping documents.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and capability to read a vernier caliper
  • Ability to navigate a preprogramed data recording system and how to troubleshoot the machine to resolve common issues.
  • Sit for extended period of times.
  • Stand for extended periods walk and reach with hands or arms.
  • Frequently stoop kneel or crouch.
  • Occasionally climb stairs
  • Fundamental math skills
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle touch or manipulate items.
  • Demonstrate good judgement and asks questions as needed.
  • Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
  • Maintains safety as high priority in all aspects of responsibility.
  • Stoop reach kneel twist and walk while handling cases of product.
  • Have vision abilities to include proximate vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Metals experience preferred not required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Three years of manufacturing experience or heavy labor experience.
