Our client is located in West Houston and looking to add a Network Analyst III to their team on a 3 month contract basis. The role has possibility of extending. The Network Analyst will provide configuration and implementation assistance with the Logic Monitor application. The application will monitor and provide alarms for the activities associated with Smart Grid Telecommunications MPLS and Corporate Network as well as point-to-point dedicated circuits.
Networks Monitored: Smart grid network (meter data cell relays field area networks) transport network (fiber optic and microwave backhaul) and enterprise network (facilities substations service centers remote
offices headquarters data centers).
Must have experience working in Utility/electric utility/gas/telecom industry.
Job Responsibilities:-
MIB translations - take alerts and translate the OID message into recognizable wording
Create alert rules for devices and set priority and define escalation chain. This will define who and how the team is alerted.
Import the vendor MIBS - translate the device logs - create the logs in Logic Monitor application.
Provide support testing and troubleshooting to technical alerts by triggering alarms in the field. Ex. Triggering open door alert and verifying corresponding message in the ticketing system.
Alert matching verify that alerts in the existing monitoring system OpenText Network Node Manager NNMi are also visible in Logic Monitor.
Create sites and add devices into the created sites. Ex. Create site associated to substation name and add devices such as router switch power bank radios DPS dehydrator etc.
Effectively communicate project related problem status to leadership team members and Logic Monitor support groups.
Open trouble tickets and work with Logic Monitor team for technical assistance beyond expertise of the Network Control team.
Generate daily/weekly progress reports as needed or required.
Provide support testing and troubleshooting to technical client base (Substation Operation Security Network Services etc.).
Read and implement technical white papers or Logic Monitor technical documentation and apply knowledge to application configuration.
